Job description

Position Summary:

Houston Oaks is excited to welcome a passionate individual to our team! In this role, you will play a vital part in creating memorable experiences for our Membership while nurturing a supportive and inclusive environment rooted in integrity, community, and harmony. Your responsibilities will include overseeing all aspects of banquet functions and private parties catering, all aimed at fostering connections and ensuring our team thrives together in a spirit of collaboration and shared purpose.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver service with care and attention, always prioritizing quality and the well-being of the Members.
  2. Recruit, hire, train and lead the banquet team.
  3. Oversee the planning and execution of all banquet food production.
  4. Develop and implement standardized recipes and portion control procedures.
  5. Ensure food quality, presentation, and consistency.
  6. Collaborate with the banquets and catering team to create customized menus.
  7. Supervise, train, and schedule banquet staff.
  8. Delegate tasks and monitor performance.
  9. Address employee concerns and provide feedback.
  10. Address member concerns and requests promptly and professionally.
  11. Monitor food costs and implement strategies to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
  12. Develop and maintain accurate inventory records.
  13. Oversee the Employee Grille menu and daily execution and leadership of that team.
  14. Ensure kitchen equipment is clean, sanitized, and in good working order.
  15. Follow and ensure safety protocols are followed by others.
  16. Any other duties, as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that foster a friendly and collaborative atmosphere.
  2. Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills preferred for concise, clear and timely communication with the team.
  3. A genuine desire to work as part of a team and contribute positively to our workplace culture.
  4. Ability to pay high attention to detail for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
  5. A commitment to providing exceptional service that makes a difference to our Membership.

Working Conditions:

  1. You will be working in variable temperature conditions (extreme heat or cold).
  2. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  3. You may experience variable noise levels.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Standing, stooping, bending and twisting for most of the workday.
  2. Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, balance, stop, kneel, crouch for up to eight hours per day.
  3. The position may involve physical exertion, such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  4. Use hands to handle, feel objects, ingredients, objects, tools, and/or controls including reaching.
  5. Must be able to push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs.
