Job summary

DoubleTree Raleigh Midtown, part-time Banquet Captain, oversees setup, service, and breakdown for banquet events in Raleigh. You will coordinate with the kitchen, greet guests, and ensure smooth execution of all functions within 3,500 sq. ft. of meeting space.

We require at least one year of banquet experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds. ServSafe certification is a plus; night/weekend/holiday availability may be needed.

Qualifications

• One-year experience in banquet service or set-up.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Experience and understanding of Banquet Event Orders.
• Push or lift items weighing up to 75 pounds (tables, chairs, trays).
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and stand for long periods of time.
• Strong communication skills when interacting with guests and leading others.
• ServSafe certification is a plus.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
• May be required to assist other hotels within our organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the setup and break-down, and/or service and clean up, of banquet functions, following BEO orders.
• Work closely with kitchen staff to communicate speed of service, client numbers, and special requests.
• Greet guests upon arrival and respond to guest requests and/or complaints promptly and professionally.
• Participate in pre-function meetings and review all information pertinent to service and setup of the group.
• Inspect scheduled function areas/rooms, table setups, bar setups, buffet tables, receptions and coffee breaks for cleanliness, attractiveness, and proper layout.
• Follow procedures to ensure security and proper storage of banquet inventory and equipment.
• Check storage areas for proper supplies, organization, and cleanliness.
