Job summary

Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ seeks an Environmental Services Technician to clean patient rooms and assigned areas, ensuring a safe, healthy, and pleasant environment with minimal interference.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Empties hampers, transports soiled linen, empties trash including medical waste containers.
• Inventories, restsocks and replenishes supplies in all assigned areas.
• Maintains cleanliness of equipment and notifies when repairs are needed; logs usage of equipment.
• May perform special projects such as window washing or deep cleaning.
• Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors, aiming for high customer service satisfaction.
• Assigned to a facility/area with internal customers (staff, physicians, nurses, patients, visitors) and external customers.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position performs all cleaning of patient rooms and/or assigned areas. Works as a member of the environmental service team to ensure the safety, health, and high morale of patients, visitors and staff by helping to provide a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment with minimal interference to others.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Performs a variety of assigned cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming and polishing according to departmental policy and procedures. Must plan the completion of these tasks daily.
2. Empties hampers and transports soiled linen; empties trash containers and removes all trash, including medical waste containers such as sharps.
3. Inventories, restocks, and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, hand soap, etc., located in all assigned areas of the facility.
4. Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and notifies appropriate personnel when repairs become necessary; protects equipment from damage by proper use and logs out and in equipment that has been used.
5. Might perform special projects such as window washing, wall washing, or removing heavily soiled items or furnishings.
6. Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff and visitors, meeting or exceeding goals for customer service satisfaction.
7. Under regular supervision, this position has responsibility at an assigned facility/area only. Internal customers include facility staff, physicians, nurses, patients, visitors, supervisors, managers, and executives. External customers include visitors, patients, and employees from other company and non-company facilities.

WORK SCHEDULE & LOCATION

Work Schedule: 5 days a week, 8‑hour shifts. Options include Monday‑Friday 5:30am‑1:00pm or Friday‑Tuesday 3:00pm‑11:30pm. Weekend shift differential of $1 per hour and an 18% night shift differential (where applicable).

Location: Banner University Medical Center, 1111EMcDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ.
