Supports attorneys in bankruptcy and litigation matters through legal research, drafting, filing, and case management across state, federal, and bankruptcy courts.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, revise, and file pleadings (motions, briefs, subpoenas) in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts
- Prepare and file proofs of claim, motions to lift stay, liens, garnishments, and related creditors’ rights filings
- Assist with adversary proceedings and bankruptcy appeals
- Coordinate court hearings and maintain communication with clerks and chambers
- Conduct legal research on statutes, civil procedure, and court rules
- Cite-check and proofread briefs; prepare exhibits, appendices, and indices
- Create charts and demonstrative exhibits for hearings and depositions
- Perform asset and property record research to support creditor recovery efforts
- Assist with document review and case organization
- Track and docket deadlines; communicate key dates to attorneys
- Manage outside vendors (process servers, investigators, court reporters, copy services)
- Maintain accurate timekeeping and billing entries
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 1–2+ years of paralegal or legal support experience
- Experience in bankruptcy, litigation, or creditors’ rights preferred
- Strong organizational, research, and communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced environment
