Job summary

The Mortgage Law Firm is seeking a capable paralegal to assist attorneys in foreclosure defense and creditor bankruptcy matters.

This role requires precise document preparation, strong research skills, and proficiency with common legal tools and databases. You will support litigation timelines, court filings, calendaring, and client communications in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a law firm.
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program; a Bachelor's degree and a paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program; or equivalent education/experience.
  • Bankruptcy or Mortgage Servicer experience preferred but not required.
  • Proficient with Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and legal databases such as Westlaw and PACER.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare bankruptcy motions, judgments and stipulations, objections, complaints, notices and orders.
  • Research and retrieve relevant documents from client databases.
  • Update information in client databases and e-files with courts.
  • Manage calendaring and schedule court hearings and meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

About the role
  • Paralegal will assist the Attorney and other team members in preparing pleadings, motions, complaints, letters, notices and orders for foreclosure litigation defense and creditor bankruptcy cases and loss mitigation.
What you'll do
  • Preparation of bankruptcy motions, judgments and stipulations, objections, complaints, notices and orders
  • Researches and retrieves relevant documents from various client databases
  • Updates appropriate information in various client databases
  • E-files documents with various courts
  • Calendaring
  • Sets up court hearings and meetings
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a law firm
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program or accredited post-secretary institution; a Bachelor's degree and a paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bankruptcy or Mortgage Servicer experience preferred but not required
  • Computer skills proficient with a variety of software programs including Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Black Knight, Equator, LPS, Tempo, Westlaw, PACER and ECF
