Job summary

South Dakota Division of Banking is hiring a Financial Institution Examiner for the Pierre or Sioux Falls office. The position is full-time, 40 hours/week, with an hourly salary range and responsibilities to assess financial condition, internal controls, compliance, investments, governance and consumer complaints.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in trust, banking, finance, accounting, or related field; an advanced degree is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in trust, banking, finance, accounting, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles; understanding of state and federal statutes.

Responsibilities

• Determine the financial condition of state-chartered or licensed companies.
• Evaluate adequacy of internal control procedures.
• Determine compliance with state and federal statutes and rules.
• Evaluate investment portfolios and decision-making for suitability.
• Review governance structure of companies.
• Make recommendations on findings.
• Investigate consumer complaints related to supervised companies.
