Job summary

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Manager, Physical Security Bank Security Officer to oversee Security Officers, implement and maintain the bank’s Security Program, and ensure compliance with all policies and banking regulations.

Responsibilities include staff management, program administration, quarterly compliance reporting, and acting as the security liaison with executives. The role supports incident response, business continuity, surveillance monitoring, and training initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in business, management or a related field OR an additional two years of related work/military experience.
• Over three years of security experience in retail, operations, information technology, security, compliance bank functions or related security experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage staff, interview, hire, train and mentor, evaluate performance, and recommend salary adjustments and disciplinary actions.
• Implement and administer all segments of the Bank Security Program and its supporting policies, standards, guidelines and procedures.
• Prepare and submit Security Program evaluation and compliance reports to the Director, Bank Protection, at least quarterly.
• Serve as regional contact for security related questions and work with Regional Presidents, Market Leaders, and applicable Commercial Management, on matters that impact their line of authority.
• Provide security training programs to employees including security and safety training presentations and exercises in new hire orientation.
• Collaborate with legal representatives and department leaders to protect employees, customers, facilities, assets, records and proprietary information.
• Develop investigative practices and standards.
