Job summary

American Savings Bank is seeking a seasoned regulatory compliance professional to advise the lines of business on applicable banking laws and policies in Hawaii. The role leads risk assessments, monitoring, and testing while maintaining the enterprise-wide compliance program.

The candidate will develop and deliver training, stay current on regulatory trends, and communicate requirements across the organization to minimize risk and ensure effective controls.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of experience in bank regulatory compliance.
• Legal or auditing background is a plus.
• Technical knowledge of the banking industry and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to apply independent judgment to keep projects on schedule while remaining flexible in a demanding work environment.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to conceptualize new ideas and complex technical matters.
• Works thoroughly and accurately to meet schedules and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provides independent advice and guidance to the lines of businesses on regulatory requirements.
• Serves as a resource for all Bank employees regarding regulatory compliance issues.
• Leads assigned compliance activities, projects and initiatives, including risk assessments and testing.
• Maintains the compliance risk assessment and evaluates risks, control effectiveness and mitigating factors.
• Advises on policies, procedures and controls; develops processes to monitor compliance.
• Gathers, analyzes and evaluates data for compliance risk assessments and reporting.
• Interacts with risk management to identify, evaluate and mitigate compliance risks.
• Ensures laws and procedures are communicated enterprise-wide and leads training on regulations.
• Stays current on emerging issues in compliance and assesses their impact.
