Job summary

Forcht Bank in Cincinnati seeks a Portfolio Manager to lead loan underwriting activities, analyze financials, and guide applications through the process. You will work closely with Banking Officers to meet client needs and expand product usage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Sales, or Communications.
  • Ten years of experience in financial services or related customer-focused roles.
  • Extensive knowledge of bank operations, procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in regulations, products, and procedures.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports.
  • Develops and maintains a productive working relationship with Banking Officers, assisting in determining customer needs and appropriate products and/or services.
  • Assists Banking Officers in obtaining information for loan applications and other banking products, explain the process and answer questions.
  • Analyzes applicants’ financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
  • Obtains and compiles copies of loan applicants’ credit histories, corporate financial statements, and other financial information.
  • Works closely with Banking Officer to guide loan applications through the underwriting process and decision.
  • Stays abreast of new types of loans and other financial services and products to better meet customers’ needs.
  • Stays abreast of regulatory compliance requirements, loan policy and operating guidelines.
  • Reviews and updates credit and loan files.
  • Submits applications to Central Retail or Credit Officers for underwriting and analysis, as applicable.
  • Submits necessary documents to Central Processing Department and Loan Processor for generation of loan documents.
  • Works with Banking Officers to clears any outstanding exceptions timely.
  • Closing and funding loans within authority.
  • Assists Banking Officers to manage credit and collection of payments up to 30 days delinquent for the life of the loan.
  • Assist Banking Officers and Credit Manager to monitor loan documents, including loan agreements to ensure borrowers is in compliance with terms throughout life of loan.
  • Services customers’ complaints, questions and requests, as needed, and takes appropriate action to resolve.
  • Assist in maintaining loan pipeline.
  • Assist in preparing letters of intent and loan proposals.
  • Assist in the annual collection of financial information from commercial loan customers.
  • Review maturity reports to ensure that loan renewals are processed in a timely manner.
  • Review loan repricing reports to assist Banking Officers to identify possible loan modifications ore refinances.
  • Assist in opening deposit accounts for loan customers.
  • Work with Banking Officers to identify cross-selling opportunities within the portfolio.
  • Provide support and direct contact with customers of Banking Officers when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Manager I and Portfolio Manager II
Qualifications
  • Ability to adapt easily to new and emerging technologies, changes in regulations, product changes, and Bank policy and procedure adjustments.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret industry information such as customer financial statements, tax returns and complex technical documents.
  • Possess excellent verbal and non-verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively present information to management.
  • Provide excellent customer service while exhibiting dedication to Forcht Bank’s mission, vision and values.
  • Proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office Products, in particular Word and Excel; Bank information systems; Laser Pro and internet research when appropriate.
  • Extensive background in financial institution operating policies and procedures and banking regulations including a thorough understanding of financial institution products and services.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management in verbal and written format.

Required Education And/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Sales, Communications, or a degree which would have taught the skills relevant to the position. Relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in the financial services industry or an occupation that required superior customer service skills, client interaction that may include business and/or retail loan underwriting, managing and loan portfolio monitoring. Banking, management, or retail sales experience is preferred but not required.
  • Extensive knowledge of bank operations, procedures and regulations.
Other Requirements
  • May be required to attend activities outside the bank to stay abreast of new developments, best practices, civic activities, and statutory and regulatory changes.
  • Pursuant to the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988, all employees must remain drug free and alcohol free when reporting to work and while engaged in any work related activities.
  • Must comply with all Bank Secrecy Act rules, regulations and requirements.
