With a heritage dating to 1895 and nearly $10 billion in assets, our client combines meaningful scale with a commitment to personal service, community relationships, and long-term independence.

The Chief Financial Officer will provide strategic financial leadership, strengthen balance sheet performance, and support sustainable growth. This executive will serve as a trusted partner to executive leadership, the board, and family ownership, translating financial insights into sound business decisions while preserving the bank’s relationship-focused culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the bank’s finance organization, including accounting, financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, budgeting, and tax, subject to the final organizational structure.
  • Develop financial strategies that balance profitability, capital strength, liquidity, prudent risk management, and long-term shareholder value.
  • Direct annual budgeting, multiyear planning, forecasting, and scenario analysis. Provide clear recommendations on business performance, resource allocation, and strategic investments.
  • Lead asset-liability management in partnership with ALCO, including interest rate risk analysis, funding strategy, deposit economics, investment portfolio positioning, and contingency liquidity planning.
  • Partner with commercial, retail, and other business leaders to improve pricing discipline, relationship profitability, operating efficiency, and returns on capital.
  • Oversee accurate, timely financial and regulatory reporting, effective internal controls, and productive relationships with external auditors and regulatory authorities.
  • Partner with credit and risk leadership on the financial implications of credit trends, portfolio concentrations, and the allowance for credit losses.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of branch expansion, technology investments, new products, and other growth initiatives.
  • Ensure finance capabilities, systems, and governance evolve with the bank’s size and complexity.
  • Communicate financial results, risks, and strategic alternatives clearly to executive leadership, directors, and ownership.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a strong finance team, establishing accountability, succession depth, and a collaborative service culture.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prior experience as Chief Financial Officer or Deputy Chief Financial Officer at a bank or bank holding company with at least $15 billion in assets.
  • Substantial progressive banking finance experience, including executive leadership across multiple finance disciplines.
  • Demonstrated expertise in treasury, asset-liability management, liquidity, capital planning, financial reporting, and performance management.
  • Strong understanding of commercial banking economics, deposit funding, investment securities, credit loss accounting, and regulatory reporting.

  • Evidence of improving financial performance, developing talent, and modernizing finance processes and reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related discipline. CPA, CFA, or an advanced degree preferred.
  • Ability to combine the discipline gained at a larger institution with a practical, collaborative approach suited to an independent bank
