Job summary

Element Materials Technology is seeking a skilled Bandsaw Operator (Shift 2) to join our machine shop. You will cut metal alloys using industrial bandsaws, read cut lists and blueprints, and prepare parts for machining, with focus on safety and precision.

The role runs 2-10:30pm with a $22.00-$25.00/hour base pay plus a $3.00 differential, and requires a high school diploma or GED and 1+ year bandsaw experience in metalworking.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate bandsaws to cut a wide range of metal alloys per production requirements.
  • Read cut lists, blueprints, and job orders to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Measure and mark stock with scales, tape measures, and squares.
  • Install blades based on material type and thickness.
  • Adjust blade speed, feed rate, and tension for different alloys.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and monitor cutting accuracy.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform routine blade changes and lubrication.
  • Safely handle, stack, and label cut materials for downstream operations.
  • Comply with safety protocols and keep a clean, organized workspace.

Bandsaw Operator (2nd Shift)

We are looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Bandsaw Operator (Shift 2) to join our machine shop team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately cutting metal alloys using industrial bandsaws in preparation for machining and fabrication processes. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a metal shop environment, be detail-oriented, and understand the handling of various alloy materials.

Shift 2: 2-10:30pm

Compensation: $22.00-$25.00/hour (depending on experience) + $3.00 Differential

Responsibilities
  • Operate horizontal and/or vertical bandsaws to cut a wide range of metal alloys (e.g., steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium) according to production requirements.
  • Read and interpret cut lists, blueprints, and job orders to determine cutting dimensions and tolerances.
  • Measure and mark raw stock accurately using measuring tools such as scales, tape measures, and squares.
  • Select and install appropriate blades based on material type and thickness.
  • Adjust machine settings (blade speed, feed rate, tension) for optimal performance with different alloys.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and monitor cutting accuracy during runs.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform routine maintenance, including blade changes and lubrication.
  • Safely handle, stack, and label cut materials for efficient flow to downstream machining operations.
  • Comply with all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
Skills / Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1+ year of experience operating a bandsaw in a metalworking or fabrication environment.
  • Familiarity with metal alloys and their properties (e.g., hardness, machinability, grain direction) is a plus.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and use precision measuring tools.
  • Solid understanding of shop math and cutting tolerances.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
Work Environment
  • Regular standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of hands and manual dexterity for precise machining and tool work.
  • Exposure to loud noises, coolant, sharp tools, and metal shavings.
  • Mandatory use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection).
  • Fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a focus on safety and quality.
