Job summary

Century-Furniture in Hickory, NC is seeking a skilled Bandsaw Operator to cut wood or veneer parts according to route cards or sketches. You will set up the bandsaw, change blades, and create jigs as needed to meet tolerances.

The role requires reading a ruler, performing basic visual inspections, stacking parts, and maintaining a clean, safe work area. Previous bandsaw experience and a high school diploma are preferred; physical duties include lifting 30 lb cores and standing for 8 hours.

Responsibilities

• Reads route cards or sketches to cut wood or veneer parts on a bandsaw.
• Cuts to line and holds cut to tolerance +1/32".
• Performs basic visual inspection and discards defective parts.
• Stacks parts and cuts more than one at a time when possible.
• Creates forms, patterns and jigs as needed from scratch.
• Changes saw blades and performs preventive maintenance as required.
• Sets up bandsaw with forms, guides and blades for specific parts.
• Observes plant safety rules and keeps work area clean.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
