Greenpoint Metals in Camden, Ohio is seeking a Banding Line Technician to operate and maintain the banding line machinery on the 3rd shift. You will wrap materials to meet customer specifications and ensure safe, damage-free packaging.

Duties include setting up equipment, adjusting tension, inspecting bundles for defects, and recording production data. You will work with the team to keep lines running smoothly and safely.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required; technical or vocational manufacturing training is a plus.
  • Experience in manufacturing or machine operation preferred.
  • Experience with banding machinery or packaging systems is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor banding line equipment to ensure smooth production.

Summary


The Banding Line Technician works 3rd shift at our Camden facility and is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the banding line machinery used to wrap or bundle materials (such as steel coils) for shipping, storage, or further processing. This role ensures that products are properly packaged according to customer specifications and to prevent damage during transport maintains consistent product quality and adheres to all safety standards.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Machine Operation: Operate and monitor banding line equipment to ensure smooth and continuous production processes.

  • Setup and Adjustments: Set up banding machines, including adjusting settings, changing bands, and ensuring proper alignment and tension.

  • Quality Control: Inspect the materials being banded for defects, proper tension, and correct banding placement to ensure consistency and quality. Tag management and placement to ensure proper identification of produced material.

  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate protective gear to maintain a safe work environment. Ensure equipment is properly calibrated and functions according to safety standards.

  • Production Monitoring: Monitor production to ensure efficient use of materials and avoid waste. Record production data and report any irregularities to the supervisor. Must understand all 3 positions on the pack line from down ending material to the line, stacking of the material onto the skid and creating the final weigh tag for the product

  • Inventory Management: Maintain and manage inventory of banding materials, ensuring that supplies are replenished when necessary.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other production team members to ensure the timely and accurate completion of packaging tasks.


Qualifications/ Training


  • High School Diploma/GED: Required; technical or vocational training in manufacturing is a plus.

  • Experience: Prior experience in manufacturing or machine operation is preferred.

  • Experience with banding machinery or packaging systems is a plus but not required.

  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of mechanical systems, basic troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures. (Preferred but not required.)

  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety protocols and willingness to adhere to safety guidelines.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure product quality and accuracy.


Physical Requirements


  • Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.) and perform physical tasks as needed.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Ability to stand for long periods, operate heavy machinery, and perform manual tasks in a factory setting.

  • Properly wear PPE and handle machinery safely.
