The banding line operator oversees the accurate packaging of all coils processed by the slitters on the banding line.

Essential Functions

• Adheres to all safety protocols outlined in the Employee Handbook for the protection of personnel and facility.
• Follows attendance policies detailed in the Employee Handbook.
• Abides by the packaging schedule as instructed by the supervisor.
• Operates automatic banders efficiently.
• Provides guidance to support personnel as needed.
• Trains line helpers in equipment operation for their designated tasks on the automated banding line.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience And Education

High school education or GED required. Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. Ability to lift 50 pounds, work on your feet on a concrete floor for the entire shift, communicate effectively, and work well in a team is essential.

Physical And Mental Requirements

• Prolonged standing, walking, and operating machinery.

• Ability to hear warning signals and communicate in noisy environments.
• Clear vision for inspecting materials and reading gauges/instruments.

Equipment, Aids, Tools

Capable of obtaining a hi-lo license. Proficient in tools like tape measure, band breaker, pneumatic bander/crimper, hand bander, hand cutters, staple gun, electric shears, nibblers, jib crane operation, ID/OD calculator wheel, and running a computer tag program.

Working Conditions

• Within a steel manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery, heavy equipment, and sharp objects.
• Subject to temperature fluctuations, loud noise, dust, debris, and airborne particles.
• Strict safety protocol adherence required.

Supervision And Co-workers/Attendance Requirements

Supervision and assistance are available. Attendance is closely monitored; unscheduled absences can affect staffing and customer requirements.

Consequences If Essential Functions Not Performed

• Failure to follow safety protocols may lead to termination.
• Attendance violations may result in termination.
• Neglecting safety or operational procedures can cause injuries, material/property damage, delays, or loss of business.
