• Provide instruction in instrumental technique, music reading, rhythm, ensemble skills, and performance practices.
• Develop and implement standards-aligned lesson plans and a comprehensive elementary band curriculum.
• Teach appropriate fundamentals for woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments.
• Establish clear classroom expectations and maintain a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment.
• Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Prepare students for concerts, and other school or community performances.
• Select and arrange music appropriate for students' developmental and musical levels.
• Maintain accurate attendance and student records.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and school administrators.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, music colleagues, and school staff to support student success.
• Encourage participation, perseverance, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for music.
• Maintain and monitor musical instruments, equipment, music libraries, and classroom supplies.
• Support recruitment and retention of students in the instrumental music program.

Work Environment: The position requires regular movement throughout the classroom and frequent demonstration of instrumental techniques. The teacher should be comfortable working with groups of young students and managing the sound levels, equipment, and physical demands associated with a beginning band program.
