Job description

Job Description: Saw Operator

Location: Milwaukee, WI

Shift: 1st shift, Monday to Friday, 40-50 hours per week

Hours: 6am - 3pm

Pay: $19.00+ per hour, depending on experience

The Saw Operator is responsible for producing parts using a horizontal band saw. The role requires producing accurate, high-quality products in a timely, cost-effective, and consistent manner to ensure quality and on-time delivery, adhering to company procedures and policies, and meeting external customer requirements.

Job Duties:
  • Read and understand instructions and follow established procedures.
  • Set up and operate the saw to cut metal objects.
  • Select appropriate feeds, guides, stops, blade gaps, and tooling for each job.
  • Read blueprints and work order instructions to produce parts correctly.
  • Assist maintenance in changing blades.
  • Verify the length of metal to specifications using rules, gauges, or templates before cutting.
  • Accurately cut a variety of metals with differing characteristics.
  • Gather the correct materials to begin the process.
  • Inform purchasing of stock issues.
  • Unload stock from trucks and inventory it accurately.
  • Complete work orders efficiently and promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintain equipment and perform necessary repairs or upgrades.
  • Keep all required paperwork, records, and documentation up to date.
  • Work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
