Job summary

WindBorne Systems is hiring a part-time balloon launch contractor based in Oahu, HI to support our weather forecasting mission. You will launch high-altitude balloons, work outdoors, and collaborate with engineers on evolving prototypes.

The role is 10–20 hours per week with evenings, weekdays, and weekends. We seek hands-on, safety-minded individuals who can operate in dynamic conditions and coordinate with local authorities as needed.

Qualifications

• Must follow safety procedures and processes precisely.
• Strong communicator with clear updates.
• Able to use tools and inspect hardware in the field.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. (required).

Responsibilities

• Launch high-altitude weather balloons following safety procedures.
• Operate and troubleshoot prototype balloon units in the field.
• Collaborate with engineers during evening launches.
• Assemble launch rigs, balloon units, and hardware.
• Set up and break down launch sites; secure equipment.
• Inventory and manage balloon supplies and gas cylinders.
• Perform routine equipment checks and flag safety concerns.
• Coordinate with site owners, officials, and airport authorities as needed.
