Ole & Steen is hiring for a bakery team member to join our confection line in NYC. You will focus on mixing and decorating cakes and pastries, working in a hands-on, high-volume environment with early morning shifts for NYC stores.

Qualificações

• Completion of a Culinary School program or apprenticeship preferred
• 1-2 years of professional bakery experience; Danish/Scandinavian methods a plus
• Experience with mixing, bench work, proofing, and baking pastries is a plus
• Ability to work weekends and some holidays
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and stand/bend for extended periods
• Strong math and time-management skills
• Follow health, safety, and food safety procedures

Responsabilidades

• Portion, shape, and store doughs to spec using FIFO and safety protocols
• Scale and mix dough ingredients with commercial mixers
• Visually inspect ingredients and doughs for freshness and quality
• Communicate ingredient usage and inventory needs to supervisors
• Maintain a clean, sanitary workstation following health standards
• Collaborate with bakers and laminators to meet daily production goals
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and workplace policies

POSITION OVERVIEW

As part of our confection team, you’ll focus on mixing and decorating cakes and pastries. This is a hands‑on, high-volume role working early morning shifts to products for our NYC stores.

You’ll be part of an energetic and skilled team where quality, consistency, and craft matter.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Portion, shape, and store doughs to spec, using FIFO and food safety protocols.
• Scale and mix dough ingredients with precision using commercial mixers.
• Visually inspect ingredients and doughs for freshness and quality.
• Communicate ingredient usage and inventory needs to supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary workstation and follow all health department standards.
• Collaborate with fellow bakers and laminators to meet daily production goals.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and workplace policies.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Completion of a Culinary School program or apprenticeship preferred
• 1-2 years of professional experience in a bakery. Experience with Danish or Scandinavian baking methods is a huge plus!
• Experience with mixing, bench work, proofing, and baking pastries is a plus
• Ability to work weekends, and some holidays
• Able to lift 50+lbs without restrictions
• The ability to stand and/or bend for extended periods of time to perform essential job functions
• Basic math skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Thoroughly follow company procedures according to health and safety standards
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and procedures
