Job summary

Giant Eagle, Inc. is seeking a Bakery Team Leader to manage the bakery team and keep operations running smoothly. You will guide Team Members and guests to design the best birthday cake and tastiest platters for parties, while promoting respect, inclusion and professional representation of the organization.

The role emphasizes coaching, performance improvement, and the development of future leaders, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and superior product quality.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail leadership or store leadership is preferred.
• Certification or licensing requirements vary by department.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Interview, select and train Team Members.
• Direct the work of Team Members.
• Appraise Team Members’ productivity and efficiency for promotions or changes.
• Handle Team Member issues including complaints.
• Discipline Team Members; plan the work; distribute or assign tasks.
• Provide for safety and security of Team Members and the store.
• Manage the department or location budget and inventory.
• Monitor or implement compliance measures.
• Direct, oversee and evaluate training to reduce turnover and labor costs.
• Inspire the team with respect and lead by example.
• Identify strengths and opportunities and plan scheduling strategically.
• Develop future leaders and nurture inclusion and diversity.
• Maintain safety as a top priority for staff, guests, and products.
• Motivate the team to deliver great food and service; meet sales goals.
• Communicate promotions to Team Members and guests; coordinate with merchandising.
