Do you have operational experience in a bakery or food production facility? Have you supervised the operations of a bakery or an industrial food production facility? Join our team of workforce professionals making a difference. The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a master chef or bakery production specialist who can drive a team of workforce professionals. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of an Arizona Correctional Industries (ACI) bakery. Supervises, when necessary. Ensures the accuracy of all incoming or outgoing products or materials. Inventory management of raw and finished goods and all operational support equipment. Communicates accurate data, both verbal and written, on the status of operations as required by management. Controls and maintains all safety regulations and quality assurance programs. Enforces daily sanitation and security practices in accordance with ADCRR policies, procedures, and best practices.

Knowledge of:
  • Various management techniques for the assigned inmate workforce
  • Inventory control methods and techniques

  • Divisional and Departmental policies and procedures, including fire and safety standards and regulations
  • Security requirements and practices
Skill in:
  • Directing, supervising, and evaluating inmate worker activities
  • The operational activities related to a bakery, including the operations and maintenance of equipment and machinery utilized

Ability to:
  • Lift/Carry approximately 50 lbs.
  • Push/pull approximately 50 lbs.
  • Walk/run approximately .75 miles
  • Interpret ADCRR policy and procedures
  • Supervise an inmate workforce
  • Communicate verbally and in writing
  • Operate a computer relating to the ERP system, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office
  • Work in a correctional environment
Selectively Preference(s):
  • At least three (3) years of experience working in a fast‑paced production environment
  • Vocational courses at a post‑secondary level in a related field with supervisory seminars and training

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and possibly a medical/physical examination.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
