Job description

Our client is seeking a Bakery Manager to join its Operations team at the Rossville Plant. The Bakery Manager is primarily responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the production bakery.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Plant Director to manage and develop production systems that increase productivity, quality, food safety, and efficiency. This individual must be comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities while helping to build a positive culture and continuously improve operational processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily activities and controllable costs of the bakery.
  • Manage, motivate, coach, and guide the production team to ensure they have the ability to deliver results.
  • Manage and develop the team while maintaining a positive work culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement in plant operations, health and safety, and product quality.
  • Work with other departments to coordinate plant activities and accomplish bakery goals.
  • Manage and direct the daily activities of the Sprouted and Gluten Free Bakeries.
  • Participate in the hiring process for production supervisors and associates.
  • Facilitate, educate, motivate, coach, counsel, and guide the production group to ensure they can deliver results.
  • Manage and develop the plant's human resources, with emphasis on management and supervisory groups.
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve productivity and throughput.
  • Manage and develop production systems that increase productivity, quality, food safety, and lower costs.
  • Ensure effective manufacturing practices are continually utilized, including Food Safety, GMP, and HACCP, while meeting health and safety regulations.
  • Develop and manage the controllable costs of the bakery.
  • Develop a vision of an effective work system and a plan to move the workforce toward that vision.
  • Work with internal and external departments to coordinate plant activities and accomplish bakery goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • At least 3-5 years of production management experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other computer applications.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to provide clear direction and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Proven ability to coach and develop a team.
  • Collaborative and communicative leadership style.
  • Continuous improvement and Lean-thinking mindset.
