Job summary

Escuela in Austin, TX is seeking a Baking and Pastry Production Cook to join our farm-to-table kitchen. You will prepare breads, churros, ice creams, cakes, and sweet components, opening the production kitchen each morning and prepping for the day ahead.

The ideal candidate has baking and pastry experience, strong organization, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-driven environment while adhering to food safety standards. Early morning shifts and physical stamina required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
• Ability to use professional-grade kitchen appliances and equipment.
• Advanced knowledge of baking and pastry techniques and recipes.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of food safety practices.
• Available for early morning shifts.
• Open to feedback and the ability to utilize it as a tool.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Texas Food Handlers Certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare a variety of desserts and sweets, including items for plated desserts as well as cakes, pies, cookies, and pastries.
• Bake a variety of breads
• Clean and sanitize equipment and baking areas
• Follow all food safety regulations
• Track, maintain, and assist order inventory as necessary
• Perform other duties as assigned by our chef team
