Job description

Bake Ability is a bakery dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment for individuals with intellectual disabilities. We believe in fostering independence, skill development, and confidence through meaningful employment in the baking industry.

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled individual to oversee the daily operations of our bakery while supporting and mentoring employees with intellectual disabilities. The ideal candidate will have a background in special education, experience in a bakery or restaurant setting, and strong leadership skills. Good organizational skills are a must.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee daily bakery operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  2. Supervise, train, and support employees with intellectual disabilities in baking and customer service tasks.
  3. Manage staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage.
  4. Receive and process in-store orders and payments.
  5. Assist the marketing manager with social media content and promotional efforts.
  6. Monitor and manage inventory, ensuring necessary supplies are stocked.
  7. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages growth and independence.

Qualifications & Skills

  1. Certification in Special Education or proven track record of success in the intellectually disabled community (required).
  2. Experience in baking, food service, or restaurant management (Certified Food Safety Certificate preferred).
  3. Strong people skills with a caring, sensitive, and adaptable approach.
  4. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
  5. Reliable, flexible, and committed to the mission of inclusive employment.
  6. Must be available to work 24-28 hours each week.
