Job summary

King Arthur Baking Company in Norwich, VT is seeking a full-time seasonal internship in our bakery production line. The role is 40 hours per week with shifts starting at 3:30 am and running through 11:30 am, including weekends and some holidays. The position is immediate and runs through year-end.

Starting pay is $18.57 per hour. Responsibilities include scaling, mixing, and baking, while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

  • Culinary students or candidates with hands-on bakery/food service experience preferred.
  • Experience in food service is desired.
  • Able to work in a team environment and weekends.
  • Culinary institute graduates are preferred.
  • Eagerness to learn and improve baking skills.
  • Able to follow directions and ask questions for clarification.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire accuracy and proficiency in scaling, mixing, baking and finish work.
  • Learn and follow proper production procedures.
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Adhere to Bakery Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Use standard commercial baking equipment.
  • Be punctual and communicative with leads.
  • Assist in production and teamwork as needed.

The Location:

Norwich, VT; onsite daily

The Schedule:

This is a full‑time seasonal role, working 40 hours per week. Shifts are from 3:30 am - 11:30 am, including weekends and some holidays. This position is available immediately and is expected to last through the end of the calendar year.

The Pay:

The starting pay for this position is $18.57 per hour worked.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Acquire accuracy and proficiency in scaling, mixing, baking and finish work
  • Learn & follow proper production procedures
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Adhere to Bakery Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Acquire knowledge of, and ability to use, standard commercial baking equipment
  • Be punctual
  • Self-monitor progress during internship and communicate any needs and wants to bakery leads

Minimum job requirements
  • Culinary students or candidates with experience working in a hands‑on production bakery or food service establishment are preferred
  • Experience in food service
  • Willingness to work efficiently in a team environment
  • Candidates from a culinary institute are preferred
  • Desire to learn the skills to produce high‑quality bakery products
  • Desire to continually improve baking skills
  • Team player
  • Can work well in a group setting under pressure
  • Be willing to follow directions and ask questions for clarification
  • Willing to share space, ingredients, and equipment with coworkers during production
  • Willing to do the dishes and sanitize bakery
  • Flexibility with scheduling:
  • Availability to work different shifts to help with scheduling and absence coverage
  • Availability to work weekends
  • Ability to interact well with others (team members, customers, etc.)

  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently push, pull, move, and/or lift up to 50 pounds
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
