Job summary

Call Your Mother is hiring a Bakery Facilities Technician in Washington, DC to keep our commissary and production bakery running safely and reliably. You’ll troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and manage repairs with outside vendors when needed.

This hands-on role requires diagnosing equipment issues, leading with action, and coordinating with the Commissary Director and production teams. A strong mechanical background and the ability to work early shifts are essential.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years hands-on facilities or repair experience.
• Experience with commercial bakery, restaurant, or food-production equipment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration and facility systems.
• Experience coordinating outside vendors and service providers.
• Ability to read equipment manuals, diagrams and safety instructions.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred for vendor and staff communications.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
• Full-time Monday–Friday schedule, starts at 5:00 a.m.; after-hours flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and complete routine repairs on bakery, kitchen, production, and facility equipment.
• Serve as the first point of contact for equipment and facility issues at the commissary.
• Determine whether repairs can be completed in-house or require an outside specialist.
• Complete approximately 70% of repairs directly; coordinate the rest with outside vendors.
• Escalate major decisions to the Commissary Director; manage vendor selection and budgets.
• Build and follow a preventive-maintenance schedule to reduce downtime.
• Communicate downtime and repair status clearly to leadership.
• Maintain work orders, warranties, manuals, and vendor records.
