The Save Mart Companies in Fresno, CA is seeking a Bakery Department Manager to lead day-to-day operations of the bakery department, including display areas, back room, equipment, schematics, and inventory.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership/team building and training skills.
• Excellent customer service skills and suggestive selling ability.
• Strong organization, administration (to include department financial) and math skills.
• Knowledge of Department operations and financials; Bakery products; Department food safety and hazardous materials rules/regulations; Baking and decorating techniques; Visual merchandising techniques; Use and care of professional bakery equipment and tools; Applicable union contractual agreement language.

Responsibilities

• Provides customers with a remarkable shopping experience by training and holding store associates accountable for excellent customer service.
• Achieves department financials by identifying and implementing best practices and optimization strategies.
• Directly leads department staff with focus on accountability and business performance outcomes.
• Develops department staff through appraisal discussions, supervision reports, and performance reviews.
• Implements department visual merchandising and plan reflecting a fresh presentation.
• Uses resources to improve productivity and labor efficiency.
• Oversees schematic implementation, stocking standards, and back room organization.
• Manages product rotation, spoilage, shrink, and markdowns.
• Ensures department cleanliness and safety standards.
• Trains staff on procedures including food preparation and packaging, safety, and planning tools.
• Orders product via inventory systems and pre-orders.
• Analyzes product performance to maximize sales and profitability.
• Manages inventory accuracy and department performance.
