Job summary

Qualifications

• Any management experience is desirable.
• Any bakery/retail experience is advantageous.
• Second language abilities welcome.

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates, with a positive attitude.
• Communicate company, department, and job specific information to associates.
• Establish department performance goals and empower associates to meet or exceed targets through teamwork.
• Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
• Train and develop associates on their job performance and participate in the performance appraisal process.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions and locating products.
• Inform customers of specials and offer product samples to help discover new items.
• Review/inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action.
• Plan and implement a department business plan to achieve results.
• Create and execute sales promotions with store management.
• Educate department associates about promotions and impacts on the department.
• Prepare seasonal critiques for the sales/merchandising supervisor.
• Assist in budgeting, expense control, and financial reporting for the department.
• Schedule price changes and manage inventory/stocking processes.
• Ensure proper temperatures and maintain temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and report safety risks or incidents.
• Adhere to laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Handle conflicts in a constructive manner.
