Job summary

Smith's Food and Drug in Midvale, UT seeks a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) to fulfill customer requests, offer samples, and promote bakery/deli items. You will use bakery equipment, ensure product freshness, and follow temperature logs to maintain quality.

You will also assist with stock, labeling, and inventory, while delivering friendly service and helping the department meet sales goals. Previous retail experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Bakery/Deli Clerk should offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and ensure correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to meet customers' needs and preferences.
• Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) per company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure and mix ingredients as per recipe using proper utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates; take appropriate action.
• Maintain temperatures in cases and coolers and log temperatures.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report discrepancies to the department manager.
