Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is hiring a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) in West Valley City, Utah to deliver outstanding customer service and maintain a safe, clean environment. You will prepare items per customer requests, offer samples, suggest bakery or deli products, and ensure correct portion sizes and freshness.

Responsibilities include operating bakery equipment, following safety and temperature logs, restocking, labeling, inventory, and assisting the department manager to meet sales goals

Qualifications

• Minimum Position Qualifications: Customer Service skills
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math
• Ability to obtain current food handlers permit once employed

Responsibilities

• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment
• Bakery/Deli Clerk should offer product samples to help customers discover new items
• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials
• Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion sizes to prevent shrink
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want
• Use bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) per guidelines
• Prepare foods according to logs and cooking instructions
• Measure and mix ingredients using various utensils and equipment
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
• Report discrepancies to the department manager
• Know store layout to locate products on request
• Stay current with ads and product knowledge
• Maintain inventory awareness and temperature logs
• Ensure safe temperatures in cases and coolers
• Promote trust and respect among associates
• Create welcoming environment for customers
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures
• Inspect equipment and report repairs
• Notify management of accidents
• Work cooperatively in high paced environment
• Manage conflicts
