Key responsibilities include:

• Offering product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Informing customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Providing customers with fresh products they have ordered, ensuring correct portion sizes to prevent shrink.
• Recommending deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Using bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
• Preparing foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measuring, preparing, and mixing ingredients according to recipes, using various utensils and equipment.
• Properly preparing, packaging, labeling, and inventorying ingredients.
• Checking product quality to ensure freshness, reviewing 'sell by' dates, and taking appropriate actions.
• Using kitchen equipment properly, including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc.
• Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
• Reporting product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understanding the store layout to locate products for customers.
• Staying current with ads and promotions.
• Maintaining knowledge of products and responding to customer questions and suggestions.
• Monitoring inventory and stocking conditions.
• Ensuring proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining temperature logs.
• Promoting trust and respect among associates.
• Creating a welcoming environment for customers.
• Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforcing safety programs and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Practicing preventive maintenance and inspecting equipment.
• Reporting customer or employee accidents.
• Working cooperatively in high-paced, stressful environments.
