Job description

Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
  2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
  3. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  4. Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.
  5. Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customer satisfaction.
  6. Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
  7. Prepare foods following temperature logs and cooking instructions.
  8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
  9. Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.
  10. Check product quality for freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take necessary actions.
  11. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  12. Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the manager.
  13. Understand store layout to locate products when requested.
  14. Stay updated on current, upcoming, seasonal, and special ads.
  15. Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer questions or suggestions.
  16. Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
  17. Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining logs.
  18. Promote trust and respect among team members.
  19. Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions about products.
  20. Follow all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  21. Reinforce safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
  22. Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
  23. Report customer or employee accidents promptly.
  24. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, stressful environment.
  25. Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
  26. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  27. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
  28. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  29. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Ability to obtain a current food handler's permit upon employment

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Bakery or Deli experience is helpful
