Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare bakery or deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products, correctly portioned to prevent shrink.
- Recommend bakery or deli items to customers to meet their needs.
- Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
- Follow food safety and temperature logs, prepare foods following cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
- Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.
- Properly use kitchen equipment like stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, etc.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the manager.
- Know the store layout and locate products for customers.
- Stay updated on current and upcoming promotions and ads.
- Maintain knowledge of products and respond to customer inquiries.
- Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintain logs.
- Promote trust and respect among staff.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions and making suggestions.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
- Practice preventive maintenance on equipment and report issues.
