Responsibilities
- Prepare bakery and deli items according to customer requests using proper equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
- Inform customers of bakery and deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products in correct portion sizes to prevent shrinkage.
- Recommend bakery or deli items to customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens following company guidelines.
- Follow food safety and temperature logs, and prepare foods according to instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients using appropriate utensils and equipment.
- Properly package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
- Check product quality and freshness, reviewing "sell by" dates and taking necessary actions.
- Maintain awareness of inventory and stock conditions, noting discrepancies.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining logs.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions and making suggestions.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and safety procedures, reporting unsafe conditions or accidents.
- Operate equipment safely and perform preventive maintenance, notifying management of repairs needed.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment, managing conflicts effectively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
- Support and assist diverse customer groups, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications
- Customer service skills
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math knowledge
- Ability to obtain a food handlers permit after employment
