Responsibilities include:
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products they have ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
- Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
- Use all bakery equipment according to company guidelines, including refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens.
- Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes, using kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Package, label and inventory ingredients and merchandise properly.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate action.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, such as stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, and robots.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise accurately.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Understand the store's layout to locate products when requested by customers.
- Stay current with current, seasonal, and promotional ads.
- Maintain knowledge of products sold and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
- Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining temperature logs.
- Promote trust and respect among associates.
- Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions and making them feel valued.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
- Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
- Report customer or employee accidents promptly.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
