Job Title: Bakery Clerk

Reports to: Bakery Manager / Bakery Section Leader

POSITION SUMMARY:

Stocks, merchandise and prepares bakery products, while maintaining a neat, clean and safe environment, while providing standard customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (responsibilities include, but are not limited to):

• - Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contact.
• - Readily services customers orders and prices products for customers
• - Skillfully proofs and or bakes bakery items for display
• - Decorates and finishes cakes, pies, and desserts
• - Neatly writes on cakes upon customer requests
• - Uses 20qt mixer to prepare fillings and frostings
• - Conducts floor checks, ensuring that the shelves are adequately stocked, products merchandised properly rotated, price integrity enforced according to company standards in bakery department
• - Completes basic cleaning of department, by washing and sanitizing work tools and area
• - Performs other related duties as needed as assigned by manager

OTHER DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

• - Use of proper safety procedures
• - Able to listen to directions and follow through independently
• - Have good communication and observation skills
• - Able to work with a team and independently when needed

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION :

• - High school / Secondary school diploma or GED
• - Must be at least 18 years of age to operate machinery
• - Possesses a food handling license

SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

• - Previous experience working with the public
• - Proper baking skills and proper sanitation knowledge
• - Ability to read and understand recipes and measuring quantities.
• - Highly proficient in Bakery department products preparation and uses

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• - Air condition while in store, subject to heat when baking and chill temperatures if products need to be retrieved from chill or freezer
• - Very fast paced
