Job summary

Kroger is seeking a Bakery Clerk to help deliver an outstanding customer experience and maintain a safe, clean bakery environment. You’ll assist the department in achieving sales goals, promote samples, and inform customers about specials while ensuring quality and accurate portions.

As a Bakery team member, you will follow recipes, handle equipment, and uphold food temperature logs. A positive attitude and readiness to learn are essential for success in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products.
• Inform customers of bakery specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size.
• Recommend bakery items to customers to ensure they get what they want and need.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, and ovens following company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking/baking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe using utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates.
• Properly use kitchen equipment and temperature-controlled equipment.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand store layout and locate products on request.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions.
• Maintain inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an welcoming environment for customers.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Inspections for preventive maintenance and report issues.
• Notify management of accidents.
• Report safety risks, theft or fraud.
