Job summary

El Super is hiring a Bakery Clerk at the Pico Rivera store to join our Store Operations Team. You will provide friendly customer service, assist customers with bakery purchases, and help maintain clean, organized displays in a fast-paced grocery setting.

The role involves lifting, standing, and cooperating with the Bakery Manager to prepare and rotate bakery products, fulfill special orders, and support daily department operations while maintaining food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Follow detailed written or oral instructions.
• Lift up to 25 lb regularly and up to 60 lb occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service in the Bakery department.
• Clean shelves and display cases; rotate and stock displays.
• Take special orders with customers and coordinate with the Baker.
• Assist with department cleaning and sanitation as needed.
• Collaborate with Bakery Manager and team to ensure quality and freshness.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk provides customer service and conducts various tasks within the bakery.
The Bakery Clerk provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service to the Bakery department. They will assist customers with bakery purchases, clean shelving and display cases. Cleans, fills, and rotates the self serve displays that are both in the front of the store and adjacent to the store bakery. The Bakery Clerk will work with customers to take special orders. They will also work with the Baker to determine which items may need to be baked or decorated. This position will also help in the department cleaning by hosing down the floors with soap and water to ensure the department cleanliness.
The working environment is typical for a fast-paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements.
