El Super in Lawndale, CA is hiring a Bakery Clerk to provide friendly, efficient service in the bakery department. Under supervision from the Bakery Manager, you will assist customers, maintain displays, and help with special orders and decoration coordination.

The role requires physical activity including lifting and standing, and a Food Handler Card or equivalent certification is required for food preparation-related duties.

Qualifications

• Reads and comprehends simple instructions and labels.
• Writes simple correspondence.
• Able to present information one-on-one and in small groups to customers and coworkers.
• Can follow written or oral instructions.
• Physically able to lift up to 60 pounds as needed.

Qualifications

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Job Description

Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk provides customer service and conducts various tasks within the bakery. The Bakery Clerk provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service to the Bakery department. They will assist customers with bakery purchases, clean shelving and display cases, clean, fill, and rotate the self‑serve displays in front of the store and adjacent to the store bakery. The Bakery Clerk will work with customers to take special orders and will also work with the Baker to determine which items may need to be baked or decorated. This position also helps in department cleaning by hosing down the floors with soap and water to ensure the department cleanliness.

The working environment is typical for a fast‑paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling, as well as visual and auditory requirements. Food Handler Card or its equivalent certification is required for all positions related to preparation, handling and serving food.
