Job summary

El Super #41 Baldwin Park is seeking a Bakery Clerk to join the Store Operations Team. The role provides friendly customer service, support with bakery purchases, and collaboration with the bakery team to bake or decorate items. Responsibilities include stocking, cleaning displays, and assisting with special orders.

Qualifications

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and employees.
• Food handling experience or training is a plus.
• Food Handler Card or equivalent certification is required for all positions related to preparation, handling and serving food.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, courteous service to customers in the bakery area.
• Assist customers with bakery purchases and special orders.
• Clean shelves and display cases; rotate and stock items.
• Work with the baker to decide which items to bake or decorate.
• Maintain department cleanliness and assist with department maintenance.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk provides customer service and conducts various tasks within the bakery.

The Bakery Clerk provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service to the Bakery department. They will assist customers with bakery purchases, clean shelving and display cases. Cleans, fills, and rotates the self serve displays that are both in the front of the store and adjacent to the store bakery. The Bakery Clerk will work with customers to take special orders. They will also work with the Baker to determine which items may need to be baked or decorated. This position will also help in the department cleaning by hosing down the floors with soap and water to ensure the department cleanliness.

The working environment is typical for a fast-paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements.
