Job summary

El Super is hiring a Bakery Clerk at Store #36 in Salinas. The role involves friendly customer service, helping with bakery purchases, and maintaining clean, well- stocked displays in a fast-paced grocery setting.

Under supervision from the Bakery Manager, you will assist with special orders and coordinate with the baker. The job requires physical effort, including lifting, standing, and walking, with potential accommodations noted in the full description.

Qualifications

• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, and short Memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Present information clearly in 1-on-1 or small group settings.

• Regularly lift up to 25 lbs, up to 45 lbs frequently, and up to 60 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service in the Bakery department.
• Assist customers with bakery purchases and keep shelves/display cases clean.
• Rotate and stock self-serve displays in front and near the bakery.
• Take special orders and coordinate with the Baker for items to be baked/decorated.
• Help with department cleaning including floors.
• Work in a fast-paced grocery store environment with physical requirements.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk provides customer service and conducts various tasks within the bakery.

The Bakery Clerk provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service to the Bakery department. They will assist customers with bakery purchases, clean shelving and display cases.

Cleans, fills, and rotates the self serve displays that are both in the front of the store and adjacent to the store bakery.

The Bakery Clerk will work with customers to take special orders and will also work with the Baker to determine which items may need to be baked or decorated.

This position will also help in the department cleaning by hosing down the floors with soap and water to ensure the department cleanliness.

The working environment is typical for a fast-paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements.

Requirements
