Job summary

Fiesta Mart in Katy, TX is hiring a Bakery Clerk to support the Bakery department under the Bakery Manager. You will provide friendly, courteous service to customers, help with bakery purchases, and assist with special orders.

You will keep displays clean and rotated, work with the Baker to determine items to bake or decorate, and help with department cleaning and safety while performing lifting and standing duties typical of a fast-paced grocery store.

Qualifications

• Read and write Spanish/English, interact with the general public and co-workes.
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, shelf tags, and memos.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information to customers and other employees.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25–60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service in the Bakery, assist customers with purchases and special orders.
• Maintain and rotate self-serve displays and keep shelves tidy in the Bakery area.
• Collaborate with the Baker to determine items to bake or decorate and support daily production.
• Assist with department cleaning and general store cleanliness; comply with safety and sanitation standards.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk provides customer service and conducts various tasks within the bakery. The Bakery Clerk provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service to the Bakery department. They will assist customers with bakery purchases, clean shelving and display cases. Cleans, fills, and rotates the self‑serve displays that are both in the front of the store and adjacent to the store bakery. The Bakery Clerk will work with customers to take special orders. They will also work with the Baker to determine which items may need to be baked or decorated. This position will also help in the department cleaning by hosing down the floors with soap and water to ensure the department cleanliness. The working environment is typical for a fast‑paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements.
