Job summary

Fiesta Mart is hiring a Bakery Clerk at Store 028 Houston-West Road. Under direct supervision, you will assist customers with bakery purchases, maintain displays, and support the Baker with decorated items. You may take special orders and help keep the bakery clean and inviting.

The role requires reading, writing, and speaking Spanish/English, and physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds. There is a fast-paced retail environment and opportunities to contribute to the community.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish and English required for customer interactions.
• Ability to read and follow simple instructions and labels.
• Write simple correspondence as needed.
• Strong customer communication and service orientation.
• Ability to follow written or oral instructions.
• Physical ability to lift heavy items up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with bakery purchases and provide friendly service.

The Opportunity

Under direct supervision from the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Clerk provides customer service and conducts various tasks within the bakery. The Bakery Clerk provides friendly, courteous, and helpful service to the Bakery department. They will assist customers with bakery purchases, clean shelving and display cases. Cleans, fills, and rotates the self serve displays that are both in the front of the store and adjacent to the store bakery. The Bakery Clerk will work with customers to take special orders. They will also work with the Baker to determine which items may need to be baked or decorated. This position will also help in the department cleaning by hosing down the floors with soap and water to ensure the department cleanliness.

The working environment is typical for a fast-paced grocery store, and essential functions of this job include physical requirements such as lifting, standing, walking and kneeling as well as visual and auditory requirements.
