Overview

Job Summary

Scales, mixes, and bakes various bakery goods. Maintains proper inventory levels of products and ensures the bakery department's cleanliness and appearance meet standards. Provides friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers. Performs other related work as assigned.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Welcomes, engages, and thanks customers, maintaining an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic service.
  • Produces bakery products for retail stores.
  • Operates and cleans bakery equipment and work area, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Packages all fresh products following proper procedures.
  • Ensures product quality by following code and recipes.
  • Makes icing and toppings by measuring ingredients, operating mixers, and handling heavy bags.
  • Prepares cakes by assembling layers, icing, decorating, and packaging.
  • Labels bakery items using scanning and labeling machines.
  • Displays products appealingly, following FIFO and merchandising guidelines.
  • Handles customer orders, including special requests, and provides personalized cake writing.
  • Maintains merchandise presentation and cleanliness of displays.
  • Assists customers with inquiries about products, orders, and availability.
  • Monitors stock levels, completes inventory and production sheets accurately.
  • Produces bread, rolls, and croissants, operating related equipment and measuring ingredients.
  • Follows safety and sanitation procedures, including cleaning and handling chemicals.
  • Opens and closes the bakery according to procedures.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
Requirements

Ability to:

  • Provide friendly, courteous service consistently.
  • Work varied hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Push and pull heavy loads (~100 lbs.) and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Conduct visual inspections, read recipes, and log production data.
  • Operate bakery equipment with manual dexterity.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism with customers and co-workers.
  • Perform physical tasks such as reaching, standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
  • Handle bakery ingredients safely and accurately perform basic math calculations.
  • Follow safety, sanitation, and company policies, including wearing PPE.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of food safety, product perishability, and regulations.
  • Be at least 18 years old.

Additional Requirements:

  • Food Handlers Certification (per state laws).
Machines and Equipment Operated:
  • Ovens, proof boxes, mixers, bread sheeters, and other bakery machinery, as listed.

Pay Range
