Job Title: Bakery Clerk

Department: Bakery

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function: Responsible for reviewing daily orders, preparing & replenishing products in a prompt, efficient and friendly manner. Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.

Reporting Relations

Accountable and Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Bakery Department Manager

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all interactions.
  • Greet customers in a friendly manner and learn their names when possible.
  • Assist customers with product location, out-of-reach items, heavy lifting, passing along suggestions, and enhancing the shopping experience.
  • Review food freshness and orders for the day.
  • Take customer orders at the bakery counter.
  • Work as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
  • Follow proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean.
  • Ensure adequate food supply, prepare, finish, and replenish products.
  • Handle product from cooler/freezer, review invoices, and run the register as needed.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and adhere to company policies.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
Secondary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Wash dishes, order supplies, price products, deliver orders, and assist in other store areas as needed.
  • Perform other related duties and projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics
  • Follow detailed instructions and deal with concrete variables.
  • Perform basic addition and subtraction, copy figures, and record data.
  • Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, and request supplies orally or in writing.
Education and Experience

Less than High School or equivalent experience, with six months or less of related work experience.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
  • Visual requirements include clarity at various distances, color vision, depth perception, and field of vision.
  • Perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions

Work is conducted in a store environment with pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities, exposure to flour dust, noise, chemicals, electrical shock, and temperature extremes.

Equipment Used

Includes mixers, ovens, wrapping, label printers, cash registers, dishwashers, bread slicers, electric knives, microwaves, airbrushes, and copy machines.

Contacts

Daily contact with customers, the public, and regulatory agencies regarding inspections.

The starting hourly wage ranges from $15.00 to $18.75 depending on experience.
