Responsibilities

At Sprouts Farmers Market, the Bakery Clerk is responsible for preparing and packaging all baked goods, including:

• Assisting the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising all baked goods
• Providing high-level customer service and ensuring bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, presented, and the bakery area is kept clean and sanitary
• Maintaining cleanliness and safety of the bakery area and equipment, including cleaning shelves, floors, and removing hazards
• Stocking, filling, facing, and ensuring pricing accuracy, monitoring product rotation, and discarding outdated items
• Receiving, inspecting, and logging products for shipment accuracy, temperature, and quality

Qualifications

To qualify as a Bakery Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market, you must:

• Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent, and have 1-2 years of bakery experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience
• Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Have an outgoing, friendly demeanor, positive attitude, and strong customer interaction skills
• Possess good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
• Be able to answer phones and take special orders
• Perform general housekeeping duties, including cleaning and sanitizing work areas and equipment
• Operate knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, with knowledge of scales and weight measures for accurate labeling
• Stand for up to 3 hours continuously, with the ability to transfer trays up to 5 lbs., and lift items up to 40 lbs. for up to 10 hours without mechanical aid
• Adhere to safety, health, and regulatory standards, and maintain a Food Handlers permit
