Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bakery experience
  • Retail experience
  • Second language: speaking, reading, and/or writing
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • Current food handlers permit once employed
  • Must be able to meet the minimum physical demands of the position
  • Must be 18 or older

Responsibilities:

  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of counter, cases, and coolers on a continuous basis.
  • Observe scheduled shift operating hours.
  • Meet the day's production goals for baked goods.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized work area.
  • Plan and organize a development plan, including setting goals, prioritizing tasks, and developing appropriate timelines.
  • Assist with receiving and unloading of merchandise and supplies.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
  • Prepare special orders per customer requests.
  • Use all bakery equipment according to company guidelines.
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
  • Properly use kitchen equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Understand the store's layout and locate products when requested by customers.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note any discrepancies.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report safety risks, illegal activities, or issues.
  • Follow all merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense, loss prevention, safety, and food safety rules.
  • Perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
