Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. bakery team is seeking a friendly Bakery Clerk. You will help prep and replenish baked goods and assist customers at the bakery counter, creating a warm, welcoming experience that brings customers back.

No prior experience required; we provide training. You will follow sanitation standards, work with teammates, and support other store areas as needed. This hourly role is based in our store bakery.

Qualifications

• Less than a high school diploma or equivalent experience accepted
• Up to six months of similar or related work experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and making them feel welcome in the bakery
• Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and taking orders at the bakery counter
• Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels throughout your shift
• Prepare, finish, and replenish baked goods as needed, pulling product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for baking
• Follow and maintain proper sanitation procedures, keeping your work area clean and organized at all times
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
• Operate the department register to process payments where applicable
• Remove trash in a timely manner and maintain a tidy department
• Work alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer
• Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed
• You’ll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home, and Bakery Department Manager
