Job summary

Wonderstate Coffee in Viroqua, WI is seeking a part-time Baker to support our cafe kitchen with high-quality baked goods and impeccable cleanliness. You will work closely with the Kitchen Lead and Cafe Manager to meet daily production goals while upholding Wonderstate's standards of excellence.

Responsibilities

• Produce stellar baked goods, in high volume, for both the food menu and the bakery case, working independently.
• Prioritize and execute baking independently, upholding the stated expectations for the café, including quantities, recipes and storage
• Honor relationships within the team, gives and receives feedback respectfully, expresses gratitude to others, and actively contributes to a positive team environment
• Communicate with the Front of House about products and storage
• Manage bread quantities in cold storage
• Practice extreme cleanliness and maintain a sanitary work environment. Wash and dry all dishes related to the baking program. All furniture, fixtures and equipment in the kitchen must be cleaned daily and more frequently if needed
• Track items that need to be ordered and communicate needs in a timely manner
• Ensure quality control and report any issues to the Kitchen Lead or Cafe Manager
• Provide excellent customer service when necessary
• Uphold kitchen processes
• Follow Food Safe Serve and state sanitation guidelines
• Set up and break down the kitchen

Position Overview

The Baker plays a central role in the success of the café’s kitchen team, holding the responsibility for the quality production of food at the cafe. Bakers at Wonderstate demonstrate our value of “Excellence. Always.” by preparing high quality food and maintaining an impeccably clean workspace. The Baker works closely with the Kitchen Lead and Cafe Manager to achieve the café’s goals.

Core Responsibilities

Work Environment

• Schedule varies each week
• Weekend hours are required
• Participation in quarterly deep clean process at least once a year
• Participation in special events or catering on occasion
• Participation in monthly staff meetings required
• Physical demands include bending, lifting 50 lbs repeatedly, and standing for long hours

Hours, Wage & Location

• Onsite, Viroqua, WI
• Non-exempt, Part-time. 2 shifts per week with Saturday or Sunday required.
• Tipped position - starting wage is $11.00 per hour, based on experience. Estimated tips are on average between $4-5 on an hourly basis
