A community-focused park district in St. Charles is seeking an Assistant for the Baker Station program. This seasonal position requires a friendly, reliable individual to engage with school-age children, ensuring a safe and enriching environment. Responsibilities include leading activities and assisting with program modifications in collaboration with colleagues and supervisors. Certifications in First Aid and CPR are required, with training support provided.
This position is well suited for someone with a friendly and positive personality who is productive and shows initiative, is an effective written and oral communicator, is reliable and safety-minded.
Required: Must be a minimum of 16 years of age. Ability to assess situations and offer positive feedback. Experience and desire to work with school age children. Knowledge of positive leadership techniques, children’s activities and games, developmental learning progressions, and appropriate discipline techniques. Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED and Mandated Reporter certifications or obtain certifications within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation, the Assistant Superintendent of Recreation, Recreation Supervisor – School Day Programs & Camps, and Before and After School Coordinator, the Baker Station Instructor shall complete their assigned duties to the best of their abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District and of fellow employees.
