Job summary

Call Your Mother is a Jew-ish deli where Boca meets Brooklyn, and we’re hiring a Baker & Prep Cook for our Wicker Park location in Chicago. You’ll mix, shape, proof, bake bagels and other baked goods with care to deliver delicious products to our guests.

No bagel experience is required; you’ll have at least one year in food production or a fast-paced kitchen, and we’ll teach you the rest. Enjoy a strong team culture, shift meals, and supportive benefits as you grow your skills with us.

Qualifications

• You don't need bagel experience. You have at least one year of experience in food production, baking, prep cooking, or another fast-paced kitchen environment. If you can safely wield a knife, follow recipes, stay organized, and take pride in producing consistently great food, we'll teach you the rest.

Responsibilities

• Mix, shape, proof, bake, and finish bagels, pastries, and seasonal baked goods.
• Prepare spreads, sauces, dressings, proteins, and other house-made ingredients following recipes and production schedules.
• Prep, portion, package, label, and store products for delivery to our shops.
• Monitor product quality to ensure CYM standards.
• Keep workstations, equipment, and production areas clean, organized, and food safe.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, allergen, and health department standards every step of the way.
• Communicate inventory shortages, equipment issues, waste, or quality concerns to leadership.
• Learn new production stations and continuously build your skills.
• Support teammates, help train new hires, and pitch in wherever the team needs you most.

HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR DAY

No two production shifts are exactly alike, but you might:

• Learn new production stations and continuously build your skills.
• Support teammates, help train new hires, and pitch in wherever the team needs you most.

YOU DON'T NEED BAGEL EXPERIENCE.

Variety is the spice of life, and we hire folks with a crazy wide range of backgrounds! You'll do well if you have at least one year of experience in food production, baking, prep cooking, or another fast‑paced kitchen environment. If you can safely wield a knife, follow recipes, stay organized, and take pride in producing consistently great food, we'll teach you the rest. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands for this position include seeing, hearing, speaking, reading, and communicating effectively; standing, walking, reaching, bending, and performing repetitive physical movements; lifting up to 50 pounds; and safely operating equipment and tools using manual dexterity. This role also requires working in a fast‑paced environment around hot equipment, sharp tools, and varying temperatures, and occasionally working in confined spaces. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodation.
